Did Mother’s Day creep up on anyone else? I was so concentrated on the kids’ baskets for Easter, and Easter was so late, that Mother’s Day totally got away from me this year. I got the reminder from Bake Me A Wish that I ordered cakes for my stepmom and grandma last year, but my stepmom has since been diagnosed as being celiac. That is no longer an option. Crap! I need plan B, and quickly since I”ll have to ship it. One option would be flowers. I’ve seen a few giveaways for ProFlowers like the one on Kathleen’s blog. I could also take Rhea’s swirled icing tutorial, find a yummy gluten free recipe, and make some cupcakes. I’m not sure they’d ship well though. I’m really at a total loss. What are you doing for your mom for Mother’s Day?

I don’t think that I ever remember Easter and Mother’s Day being so close together. Ugh. Plus my mom’s birthday was just April 14. I’m so tapped out. I might have to go the gift certificate route…which always seems so thoughtless, but my mom loves cold hard cash

It’s OK Brian, I was quite surprised when I realized how little time I had to get something together myself for the moms in our family. My husband is totally off the hook.
My mom doesn’t like “stuff” (her words!) so we have had to change how we gift things to her. Now I usually give her a new pic of the kiddos in a pretty frame, & a gift card for a place she doesn’t usually treat herself. We’ve done them for a massage, for starbucks, that kind of thing.

I think the cupcakes sound like a great idea! I lucked out and got to do a review for an orchid for my mom, otherwise I would be in the same boat lol. You can have the kids make homemade gifts for them too?
