Milestone!

One thing is constant with autistic kids, we are still hitting milestones, even at almost 10 years old, and some of them are huge. Zach decided over the weekend that he would decide to ride the bike that we’ve had sitting in the shed for him for the last two years. He got over his sensory issues and just did it. By the end of the weekend he was tooling around the driveway like he’d always been riding a bike like his peers.

About Amanda

Amanda Griffiths sometimes feels as though she's running a zoo instead of a home. With two active autistic boys, they often make the noise of six kids. Pepper in some Army life and cyber schooling for spice, and it's organized chaos at best. When visiting, please don't feed the animals. They have food allergies.

  2. That is HUGE! You’ve given me hope that Audrey will do it someday cuz right now she is totally uninterested and we still have the training wheels on. But I think he needs a bigger bike now Mom :)

    • He’s not interested in a bigger bike. We’ve discussed that. My children have this strange affinity for bikes that are way too small. I’m betting part of that is sensory since they can put feet down easily, and part of it is reluctance to change.
