The little things have taken over. If you follow me on Twitter, I’ve been over there more lately that really anywhere else. I haven’t really had anything blog worthy, but 140 characters, I can do.
Nothing of real note has happened lately, and that’s a good thing. I’ll take it. We’ve been dealing with our water leak from last week. Waiting for the kitchen ceiling to dry so they can remove the damaged parts and put up new.
We’ve been working with Aaron to strengthen his right hand. We decided to make him right handed during one of his OT sessions. That’s his stronger hand, but weaker wrist. It’s been MUCH easier to teach him writing. Sometimes he still prefers to put things in his left hand, so we only push it for writing, drawing, etc.
My husband was off the last two weeks, so we did a lot of therapy since I had the car at my disposal all day every day. We also spent a lot of family time just hanging out before school starts for everyone. This week, we’re easing back in with early arrival stuff for my husband and classes at one school. Next week starts balls to the wall until the holidays and the end of the semester for all of us. I’m really hoping we get respite care approved because even though I’ve coped all these years, my own mental health would be greatly improved if I could get some breaks.
The boys also start school next week. Zach at the beginning of the week, and then Aaron later in the week. I haven’t yet heard anything about Aaron’s transportation, but I’m not really surprised either. The Intermediate Unit here hasn’t exactly shown me that they’re on the ball the entire time they’ve dealt with Aaron’s case.
After the dust of the new school year settles, I’ll be starting to research our options for next Fall for Aaron. We’ll be looking at Kindergarten programs for him, and what’s looking like the best fit. I know that’s early, but I need to know what he needs to know going into the testing in the Spring so we can work towards that. He’s met all of his IEP goals, and I’m requesting a meeting to redo his IEP this fall as well.
Halloween is also a big deal in our house, and I’m trying to get everyone to pin down what they’d like to be this year. I have to order costumes early if they want what they want.
Football season is also starting, and that means moving from my summer menu to our football season menu of finger foods on football day. I’m also looking to use my Cuisinart multi cooker more since we’ll be so busy with therapy appointments during the week this year. It’s smaller than my crock pot, and more versatile. I’ll be looking to grocery shop one day, and prep another for the week.
I know summer officially extends into September, but there are lots of preparations here as we move towards Fall. Does your routine change at all as Fall approaches?

we’ve started thinking about Halloween too – looks like a princess is in my future :/

Sounds like you all have been pretty darn productive. Luckily, we have a family friend who invites us to her neighborhood for a small party before we go trick or treating, so it is pretty stress free for us.
