What’s a girl to do when she gets a beauty box from Influenster and is stuck at home feeling sick and lousy? Try things in the box of course!
The box was packed full of goodies. Of course I tried the Kiss Ever Pro Lashes Starter Kit first. This is the best picture. Let’s just say these are not my forte. It’s not a good sign when you walk out of the bathroom to get your camera to take a picture, and your husband says “Whoa,” and not in a good way. They also felt weird. Total sensory hell on my eyes. I’ll stick to my regular lashes and my really good mascara that I usually use. I’m sure these are great for people without my sensory issues and with better fine motor skills.
I fared way better with the NYC New York Color Individual Eyes Custom Compact eyeshadow. The plastic over the colors is like eyeshadow for dummies. It tells you what goes where. I did one eye with the sponge applicator that comes with the set, and the other with my own brushes so you can see the difference. I personally prefer the brushes, but there’s nothing wrong with the sponge applicator in a pinch. I also find that my eyeshadow lasts longer when applied with brushes.
When I was all done playing, I pinned my hair up with the Goody Simple Styles Spin Pins, and washed my face with the Boots No. 7 Beautiful Skin face wash, and then used the moisturizer. I liked that the face ash was gentle and the moisturizer wasn’t greasy, but it was substantial. I’ve used the Spin Pins before, and I like that they hold even my thick hair in place without damaging it. When the package says to make sure the pins don’t interlock, it really means it. Not that I speak from experience or anything.
