Status Quo

The blog has been quiet lately. I know this. We’ve been plugging along with cyber school and therapies. We’ve added OT back into Aaron’s weekly schedule. He REALLY needed that. Sure, the Ritalin helps, but it’s only really truly effective with the OT. In the same regard, the OT is only really and truly effective with the medications. Neither method works for him entirely on its own. I’m glad to have both in his routine again.

Zach is reading Tom Sawyer for his literature class, and while he was hesitant at first, he’s really enjoying the book. He’s asked me to obtain a permanent copy for the house. We’ll also be getting Huck Finn. Mark Twain is one of my favorite authors, so to see one of my children enjoy him is heartwarming.

Otherwise, we’re busy with events of the season – visiting family, going to see lights, Santa, and other activities. There’s always plenty to do in our area between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

It’s been the status quo, and I’ll take it. Exciting isn’t always better.

About Amanda

Amanda Griffiths sometimes feels as though she's running a zoo instead of a home. With two active autistic boys, they often make the noise of six kids. Pepper in some Army life and cyber schooling for spice, and it's organized chaos at best. When visiting, please don't feed the animals. They have food allergies.

  1. I think a lot of those “classics” are hard to get into at first, but well worth the read. Twain is still pretty accessible even these days. He’s funny and tells a good story. I have both of those books on MY permanent bookshelf…

    • A lot of the classics are hard to get into. Twain is one of the only authors that a teacher chose for me that I read the entire book and didn’t bullshit my way through the unit in school. He remains on of my favorite authors. There were many books I never made it past the first chapter, and still won’t pick up to this day.
