Affected
I’ve been reading stories lately about soldiers getting ready to be deployed, and soldiers coming home. The news has again been riddled with bombings, and a soldier captured. I’ve weathered it all fairly well. It has been almost four years since my husband returned from Iraq. You’d think these things wouldn’t affect me the way they did then. This evening I read a story about a woman whose son came home form Iraq. She described the scene with all the families, the hot gym they were all waiting in, and the dignitaries that attended. I have to admit, I got choked up and teary. That’s almost exactly how ours went. I could picture our homecoming day as she described her son’s. It still amazes me how one deployment (and I’m so very thankful it’s only been one so far) affected our family then and continues to affect our family now.

There are some things that just too unforgettable…
I have so much respect for the wives and husbands and mothers of soldiers…It's such a sacrifice you all make.
