Back to the Grind
I know it’s Tuesday, but it was a long weekend, so now we’re back to our weekly grind. Thankfully it’s a short week. Only 3 days on my own with the little critters this week before DH returns. That makes it a little easier.
Did anyone hit any sales this weekend? We went and looked at new mattresses. We currently have a queen, but the box spring will not come out of this house in one piece since we enclosed the porch upstairs. We’re thinking of upgrading to a king since really they’re not much more in the grand scheme of things. All the mattresses we looked at are really expensive imo. The queens were $1,300 or $1,400 for a middle of the road model. The kings anywhere from $1,000 – $1,500. I’m having a really hard time putting that kind of cash down on a mattress. That’s probably more than our new couch will cost. Is ti just me, or is this really what mattresses cost now? The set we have now is 10 years old, and DH had gotten it without me, so I’ve never gotten a mattress for retail. When we bought the bunk beds for Zach, his mattress was a Montgomery Ward buyout, so it was really cheap. The only thing “wrong” with it is that the fabric on the outside was unique to the Montgomery Ward store.
I also hit some of the digiscrapping store sales. I hit Shabby Pickle, Scrap Orchard, and one other one I can’t think of right off. Those are the 2 big ones though. I’ve been wanting to scrap lately, but still just can’t get inspired to actually do it. The nice thing about being uninspired is I had some money saved up in Pay Pal from my paid blog posts.
Don’t shoot me, but I also did some more Christmas shopping today. I know it’s barely September, but for the last 2 years I’ve been done by Aarons‘ birthday on November 4th. Good thing I was done the year he was born too since he was 5 weeks early. I’ve really enjoyed being done before Thanksgiving the last 2 years and I can really just relax and enjoy the holidays. The nice thing about moving is I can have stuff shipped to the new house, and the kids won’t even know boxes are coming in. We get around the whole Santa thing because Santa only brings 1, maybe 2 gifts for each child. That’s all he has time for since he has to distribute gifts to all the children of the world. The Mommys and Daddys fill in the rest. Santa does the stockings for the kids too. Grown ups are on our own LOL. This has also opened up the door for us to discuss how Christmas is not all about the presents, and there are kids who don’t get a lot of presents, etc.
Pretty boring stuff going on here. It’s Tuesday, so that means allergy shots after school and McD’s drive thru for diner to try and get a new Star Wars toy. I’ll be spending my days working on the house more. The faster I work the faster we can all be under the same roof again.

No sales for me this weekend, other than I did grab the grab bag over at Scrap Orchard. The only thing I got off it was the CU stuff, the rest is still in the dead desktop. I’m gonna see if I can get if fixed. I just paid it and the laptop off. Figures.
Glad you got more time with DH this weekend and the week will go by fast, hopefully.
