Ever just have one of those aneurysm inducing weeks? Well it’s been like that for a good while here. It’s all coming to a head with most of it behind us now. It’s amazing how telling people they’re wrong will relieve stress. It’s amazing how when the school tries to tell you how great the middle school is, all it does is reinforce that you’re doing the right thing by pulling your kid from the district at the end of the year (more on this and the mediocrity that is our school system later).

But today, without further ado, I give you Ryan, and the weekly link up. Ryan lets me get out all my frustrations when my husband has heard it all before, and/or when my husband needs a good laugh too. I’ll be honest. My husband isn’t above reading these and laughing and nodding in agreement with us even if he doesn’t blog or comment along.

1. I love food, but I’m weird about it. For example, I only like raw tomatoes, or tomato sauce, but not chunks of cooked tomato. Along the same vein, cheeseburgers have mayo, and hamburgers have ketchup, but cheese and ketchup cannot touch.

2. I write about beer, I cook with beer, I eat cheddar beer soup, but I don’t drink beer. I think it’s nasty to drink. My husband is the beer drinker. I garner the flavors by the descriptions on the bottles, the smell, and the way my husband describes it when I want to use it for cooking.

3. I used to drink wine before my body got old and decided that sulfites gave it migraines.

4. I’m a planner. Especially since we had the boys and I must be ready for every scenario to avoid epic meltdown.

5. I like things my way. Blame it on growing up as an only child, blame it on being the spoiled grandchild on both sides, blame it on whatever, but I like things my way, and I don’t like being told no. The worst thing you can tell me is that I can’t. I will do it just to prove you wrong.

I know it’s Tuesday. Sue me. I didn’t really have anything to write about on Monday. I have so many balls up in the air, but nothing concrete to really discuss. Today I have some snippets.

-Voting for Military Spouse of the Year ends soon. You do have to sign up, but anyone can sign up and vote. There are lots of great candidates coughvoteforJeremyHiltoncough.

- I started my own PT program this week to try and get my body working the way it should and reduce the pain and muscle spasms all over. I have over 10 years of not being treated properly to undo.

- Have you checked out The Oxygen Mask Project yet? Do it. Especially if you’re a primary care giver. The idea behind the site is something most of us need to do – take time for ourselves. Hint: you might see something I write over there once I can get it out of my head and onto the page.

- Our local newspaper started a part of their website called MomLink. If you’re local, check it out.

Tell us about your first car. Everyone remembers their first car (I hope) and has a story or two to tell about it. So share yours.

I didn’t get my first car until after I was married and had a baby. We had determined that I needed to try and find a job outside the home to help us get through the month with expenses. I succeeded in finding a job, with good hours, and I found some pretty awesome day care for our oldest son who was 15 months old at the time. The problem was I needed a car. We only had one car, and there just wasn’t a job that I could physically do with my fibromyalgia where the hours worked around my husband’s schedule.

My first car wasn’t anything great, but it did its job. I got a Saturn SL2 sedan. It was pretty reliable and got us around where we needed to go. My biggest complaint was that it didn’t have automatic anything. I think I’m pretty lucky it had a CD player and cruise control. I hated having to manually unlock the doors in the rain and snow with a small child, but it was what we could afford. It was more about affordability than convenience.

In the end, I’m glad we got a second car and didn’t try to make one car work. Having two cars allowed us to take advantage of the opportunities we did, and get us where we are today.
