In past years I used their digital scrapbooking option to make custom folded cards. Last year I didn’t see that option, so I made custom 4×8 photo cards for our family. I love that Shutterfly gives me the option to make my own card since I do digital scrapbooking, rather than using a premade template.

If you’re not a scrapbooker, don’t worry. Shutterfly offers a wide variety of premade templates that you can just upload pictures, customize the card, and get your prints. If you’re like me, you tend to see the words “premade template,” and cringe. No reason to do so with Shutterfly. I’ve been perusing their templates this year since I haven’t scrapped since I did our Christmas cards last year. All the templates I saw are very stylish, and they come in a variety of colors to fit your holiday theme.

I made myself a custom travel tumbler to take to the bus stop on those early mornings. I used Flergs‘ Chase-ing Ryan kit.

I had a request for a picture of the finished product. Here it is. Anyone know of a lightweight paper that will still slide in and out of the tumblers easy enough to change the pictures but give a nice print? I used plain paper, and it’s washed out even with new ink cartridges and on the highest print settings. I’ve found that anything heavier gets stuck and you can’t change the inserts.

It’s Friday, May 1, 2009. I can’t come up with a cohesive blog post thanks to 2 children who are already in rare form at 7am. Usually they’re still sleeping.

-If you’re a digital scrapbooker, today kicks off (Inter)National Scrapbooking Day. I’ll admit I’m a bad scrapper and I have no idea what the actual day is, but I know there’s events and sales going on in all the stores all weekend. I’ve been out of the loop lately since my scrapping has fallen by the wayside, but I’ll be visiting some of my favorite stores like Scrapbookgraphics, Weeds and Wildflowers and Shabby Princess.

-Today also kicks off 31 Bloggers in 31 Days over at MomDot. There’s a new blog featured every day with a giveaway. There’s some really good stuff to be had out there. I know I’ll be blog hopping every day. Don’t forget to stop by here the 17th-31st for my giveaway as well.

- This month is also Military Appreciation Month. If you check around, your town may have events for Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day, and if you live near a post or base, Military Spouse Appreciation Day (We share it with VE Day).

- We’ve taught our 2yo to say “Hey, hey, hey” just like Fat Albert. It cracks us up every time.

- My 7yo calls the backs of his knees “knee pits.” I guess since we have arm pits the same concept applies to our legs.

This week was dominated by things breaking. It was the furnace still on the fritz, the Wii sensor bar, and the cable remote. Of course the cable box also has no manual way of changing channels. Who thought of that? And if we don’t have the box, we only get the first few channels, not all of them. Talk about a racket. At least everything also got fixed last week.

I also found a couple of still lifes set up by the boys randomly around the living room. The action figures on the book shelf I think were Zach’s doing. Aaron can reach up there, but not well enough to place those figures so accurately. Aaron’s still life is the construction equipment, dinosaur, kleenex box, and cookie on the coffee table. I had my last orthodontist appointment ever (unless I have an issue with my permanent hardware) and we stopped and got some of those yummy cookies while we were back up at the old house.

With the weeks running Thursday -Wednesday, I’m starting to get a little confused. Someone forgot to tell the calendar that January 1 needs to start on a Sunday. I’d even settle for Monday.

This particular week, I carried on the corkboard theme for a 2 page spread. It was a fairly uneventful week as Aaron and I were still sick. I did learn the value of my Zune and it’s stored episodes of Diego. I also took Zach shoe shopping and it wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Grocery shopping this particular week let me dip my toes in the waters of product reviews, and I liked it. I did not like how Wegman’s is slowly replacing name brand items that I buy with their store brand versions. Oh, and I guess I should maybe mention that the Steelers won the Super Bowl. LOL

*For those of you following the epic saga, we now have heat. The digital thermostat put in yesterday is so accurate I almost had to turn on the a/c to cool the house down because even set at 70 degrees, we’re not used to the house being this warm. This just might be over – finally.*
