This week was dominated by things breaking. It was the furnace still on the fritz, the Wii sensor bar, and the cable remote. Of course the cable box also has no manual way of changing channels. Who thought of that? And if we don’t have the box, we only get the first few channels, not all of them. Talk about a racket. At least everything also got fixed last week.

I also found a couple of still lifes set up by the boys randomly around the living room. The action figures on the book shelf I think were Zach’s doing. Aaron can reach up there, but not well enough to place those figures so accurately. Aaron’s still life is the construction equipment, dinosaur, kleenex box, and cookie on the coffee table. I had my last orthodontist appointment ever (unless I have an issue with my permanent hardware) and we stopped and got some of those yummy cookies while we were back up at the old house.

With the weeks running Thursday -Wednesday, I’m starting to get a little confused. Someone forgot to tell the calendar that January 1 needs to start on a Sunday. I’d even settle for Monday.

This particular week, I carried on the corkboard theme for a 2 page spread. It was a fairly uneventful week as Aaron and I were still sick. I did learn the value of my Zune and it’s stored episodes of Diego. I also took Zach shoe shopping and it wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Grocery shopping this particular week let me dip my toes in the waters of product reviews, and I liked it. I did not like how Wegman’s is slowly replacing name brand items that I buy with their store brand versions. Oh, and I guess I should maybe mention that the Steelers won the Super Bowl. LOL

*For those of you following the epic saga, we now have heat. The digital thermostat put in yesterday is so accurate I almost had to turn on the a/c to cool the house down because even set at 70 degrees, we’re not used to the house being this warm. This just might be over – finally.*

I’ve seen so many people who are participating in Project 365 this year. I’m trying it myself. Like I told my husband yesterday, I’m hoping to capture more of our little moments and then make a book by the end of the year. There are several digiscrap designers making kits and templates and other accoutrement to make the book process easier. As well as there are scrap sites hosting forums to help you along if you’re a scrapper. I’m not sure where people just in it for the photography would fall in this one.

I have a question though. How do you get over being shy about taking out your camera? For example, yesterday we took the GSA van back to where my husband works. We then drove the other 30 minutes to the nearest IHOP for their all you can eat pancake special (which by the way is a good deal even if you only eat your original plate because it comes with eggs, meat, and taters too). I wanted to get pictures of us at IHOP because we enjoy going out to breakfast as a family, it’s the IHOP we used to frequent almost every weekend when our oldest was a baby and toddler and it was only 6 miles across town from our house, and how often do we go to IHOP? I took my camera with me, took it in the restaurant, but never took any pictures. Sadly, we were the only family that seemed to be laughing and having fun in the whole section where we were sitting.

Then we went to the Ride Makerz store. I won a gift card online before Christmas, and the cars are COOL. It’s like Build A Bear only you build a car or truck. The online store doesn’t even do it justice. Walking into the actual store was so freakin cool I wanted to build a car, but our 2yo was about to have a meltdown. I had every intention of taking pictures to scrap with pictures of the boys’ cars they got, but I never took any. There were people in there and I was shy again. We also learned we can’t take our toddler in there unless we intend to buy him a car. He threw a tantrum in the parking lot, and in the car as we pulled away, giving one last really good shriek as we passed the store – stink pot.

*As an aside, I totally recommend these as gifts for the kids in your life who like cars and trucks. They’re worth the money and it’s really cool and easy to build your own car. My boys haven’t destroyed theirs yet, so they’re durable too. I didn’t link you up as a blog ad either. I just really like these cars.

On the way home, instead of taking the interstate, we took another main road. We had gone up to the north end of town to make sure our old pizza place was still there in case we got a craving and to see if the German market just happened to be open on Sunday. No bratwurst for us. I should’ve had my husband pull over so I could get a picture of the pizza place. We used to eat there almost every Friday night for at least 3 years. There were no cars in the lot, and I could’ve gotten some good shots, but we just drove by. Then as we were traveling up the road, we came across a sign that said “Hagerstown Custom Floors of Chambersburg.” It struck us as funny, but again, too shy to stop and take a pic.

What can I do to get over this shyness?
