Doctor Visit Updates

[ 2 ] February 26, 2008 | Amanda

So, I dropped off the stool sample for my 14 month old, and we went on our way to allergy testing for Zach, my 6yo. Zach is allergic to trees, dust mites, cats, dogs, mold, and ragweed. Doc’s suggestions? Don’t get a furry pet, try singulair, and read the pamphlets he gave me on reducing environmental allergens as much as possible. If the singulair doesn’t work, Zach has to get the allergy shots because we’ve tried all other kinds of treatment. That’s why we were there today. Zach’s only consolation was that if he has to get the shots, mommy will get them with him. I’m currently on 3 different allergy meds, but have been considering just doing the shots and being done with it. Upside to the shots for Zach, the doc said they tend to ward off asthma in kids with allergies since the comorbidity is astronomically high.

On to Aaron. We’re not home 20 minutes from the allergy doc when the family doc calls with the stool sample results. Aaron has C.diff and needs antibiotics. This is why I’ve been washing ALL of his bedding daily since Friday night/Saturday morning and getting little sleep. Just freakin ducky. And it doesn’t help that everything I’m reading on C.diff is all gloom and doom. He’s only 14 mos old for crying out loud. (This is where I cry and stomp and throw my it’s not fair mommy tantrum)

I’m tired, I’m cranky, and I need a break. I don’t get the break I want until Aaron is better though. Our babysitter is the ONLY other person he’ll go to bed for besides me (been that way since he was an infant). Our babysitter can’t babysit a sick kid, much less one with C.diff because she’s pregnant. I’m not going to knowingly expose her to that. UGH! If you made it this far, thanks for reading my rant. I needed to throw that mommy tantrum.

Aren’t stool samples fun? Hope the baby gets better soon. And I’m hoping you get the much deserved break you need.

Lord! Baby, you got your hands full. You deserve a FULL on tantrum, woman. You can flop on the floor (or the bed…I think that is better! LOL) and let it out.

wow! I hope the baby feels better soon. C-Diff is nasty but he should at least feel better in a few days. Poor angel.

I will be sending some “better mommy days” thoughts your way!

    smooches!
