Friday Musings
- My 2yo slept last night – all night. I think hell froze over and seas parted. Of course Murphy being what he is, I’m now up at 3:45am writing a blog post. I really think he was done with the crib and wanted in a regular bed. Last night was the first night and he didn’t even try to get out. We’ll see what happens when he wakes up.
- I did phase 1 of The Great Room Switch yesterday. I got Aaron set up in what used to be our room, and he’s the farthest away form all the regular household noises being that he’s our lightest sleeper. We’re now in what was his room because our new box spring wouldn’t fit up the last little flight of stairs to what was our room. Even the cable was already turned on in his old room. We weren’t sure if we had all the rooms turned on or not. It was nice to have the idea of watching Hell’s Kitchen in bed even though in reality I was asleep by 8pm. I remember putting on the Daily Show and that’s it.
- It was so nice to sleep on a mattress AND a box spring last night. We’ve been sleeping with our mattress on the floor since October. Now all we need is a new bed frame or an actual bed.
- I can still feel the effects of the room switching from yesterday, so I’m sure I’m in for a great fibromyalgia flare this weekend. That’s ok because my DH will be home to hold down the fort if need be. You might be wondering why he didn’t help yesterday, but he did. He watched the kids while I moved furniture. I’m OCD like that and I NEEDED to move the furniture myself because no one else can do it right. I hate that about myself sometimes.
- I got the kids these really cool chalk board dots from Target yesterday that stick on the walls and you can restick them. I’m hoping that’s true since we’ll be moving roughly every 3 years for the next 13 years.
- The kids also got new sheets. Aaron got Thomas the Train for his new bed, and Zach got Star Wars so he wouldn’t feel left out. Target has a lot of their kids’ bedding on sale this week. I still can’t understand how my kids can sleep on those crappy thread count character sheets LOL.
- The new twin mattress for the other bunk bed comes today. Zach slept on the crib mattress on the floor last night as a one night thing because the crib broke when I took it apart. The kids beat that poor crib to hell. Aaron’s rocking had worn out a lot of the hardware and it snapped in places it shouldn’t have. Zach’s excited he gets the new bed. I’m so glad we invested in those bunks that come apart to make 2 twins when Zach needed a twin. The top bunk has rails that come all the way down both sides so it makes a great toddler bed, and then they slide out when the kid is older. I noticed yesterday it was made in NC. Probably why it’s such a great piece of furniture.
- I’ll soon have pictures of the room switch. It’s the end of an era here. No more cribs for us. I’m a little sad, but a little glad at the same time. It’s nice to know once this one can wipe his own butt, I’m done wiping other people’s butts for awhile.
- And lastly, I think the plague is finally getting me. It started while we were out mattress and room shopping yesterday. I got what DH and I call the “I feel like I slept with a dick in my mouth” sore throat. I still have it this morning. PA made The Weather Channel’s flu report for being a particularly hard hit state this spring (yes, it’s March, so I’ve decided it’s spring). I’ll be waiting to see how this pans out. I really don’t have time to be sick right now. I can be sick after May 2.

I laughed outloud about the sore throat phrase you and your husband use. So funny!
I hope the FM flare isn’t too bad. I just got through one. Or maybe it was the flu. Who knows. It was bad either way.
Please stay well, this blows!!
A great night’s sleep…. PRICELESS
My throat feels scratchy too. What a hilarious way to describe it. Hope tonight went smoothly again!
