Humbling
Since I share everything here, let me tell you, elementary school kids bring home some of the nastiest cooties known to mankind. It all started with the surprise waking by Zach Friday morning and then his subsequent puking. Then I got hit Saturday. Aaron and my husband also were hit, but not nearly as bad as I was. Seems I’ve fared the worst. There’s nothing quite so humbling as sitting on the toilet, puke bucket at your feet, and waking up because you passed out from it all. I couldn’t even sit or stand still on Sunday without feeling nauseous. Through it all, I have to commend my wonderful husband. While I was just trying to keep enough fluids in me to avoid the ER, he held down the fort and allowed me to try and get the rest I needed. He’s awesome.

I work in the schools and it’s amazing to see how many kids are sent to school with a fever and other symptoms that indicate “stay away!” I know a lot of parents just send their kids with Tylenol because it’s hard for them to take off work, but then the Tylenol wears off, and there they are in the nurse’s office.
I know parents who do that too. It’s such a shame because all the kids really want to do when they’re sick is stay home in bed. I err on the side of caution, so I always feel terrible when I get that call to go pick up my child. I don’t see the sense in sending a sick kid if there’s visible symptoms I can see because all he’s going to do is spread it to the other kids and possibly end up with whatever the cootie du jour is again.
I really hope you’re feeling better! That’s just awful! I’m so glad your hubby was able to help out though.
We had a bug last week, and I thought we were almost over it. But it returned on Friday, so it looks like mine will me missing school again. I’m so tired of flu season!
I don’t think there is anything that sucks worse. Last Valentines day I had the most horrible stomach bug! I’m glad you are better!
