I Officially Have the Jolly Green Giant’s Baby

[ 5 ] December 9, 2009 | Amanda

My son Aaron had his three year check up yesterday evening. It was pretty routine. We’re stopping the Pulmicort to see how his asthma does now that we’re out of prime fall allergy season, but we still have it, the albuterol, and nebulizer should we need them (I’m sure we will come Spring). His height and weight are incredible to me. He was 42 3/4 inches tall and 38.8lbs! Granted his weight is in the 90th percentile, but his height is in the 100′s, so it’s not a concern. I’m especially not concerned because I have to buy the adjustable waist pants for him and pull them almost as tight as they’ll go just so they stay up. If I can find 5 slims, it’s all the better, but hardly anyone carries slim pants anymore I’ve found. The only thing we need to work on is getting rid of the binky. We’ve tried everything, and quite frankly I think he’s like his mama, and he’ll give it up when he’s damn good and ready. Potty training is another issue I want to tackle more head on, but according to our doc, it’s not a concern until age 4. So with a clean bill of health, we were in and out in about 15 minutes. It was one of the most painless doctor visits we’ve ever had.

yay for a good report! With the Binky have you tried cutting the end off? I hear that works but I have never had to deal with it neither of my kids wanted to use one.

My kids were really giant too, and still are! How cool to have your little one growing up before your very eyes to be so big and strong.

As for your pacifier issue I have a follower http://twitter.com/pacifierBGone & I definitely think she could help with that issue.

That's my son's height/weight. He's 5.5 and, as you can tell, small for his age, yet, docs don't do/test anything.

Fwiw, I have heard that about cutting off the end. snip a little each day until it is almost all the way gone, not just all at once.

but hey, sounds lilke you have a sports player on your hands. Maybe he can go pro and let you retire and live a nice live in 18 years? =)

Sounds like you have a very healthy little guy on your hands. Don't worry about the binky or the potty trainig, they will happen in their own time. I'm sure that some people give you a hard time because they think he is older than he is, but just don't let it get to you. He is extremely healthy and happy, making you a great mother!
