That Explains a Lot About Our Allergies

[ 3 ] April 16, 2009 | Amanda

It’s no secret that we’re an allergy laden household. My husband has the mildest case with only some hayfever in the fall. Aaron is the next one with Spring and Fall allergies, and then there’s Zach and I with year round allergies. Zach and I get the allergy injections (only 4 more months of going weekly – woohoo!). Zach cannot take ANY of the oral antihistamines. They ALL make him off the walls hyper. Benadryl does that to me, but I also think that in some, like Singulair, it may be the red dye they use to make the pills since he has a red dye sensitivity. Aaron can take Claritin, but that’s it. The others have the same effect on him as Zach or they just don’t work. I was surfing yesterday for alternative allergy treatments for the boys. Then I came across the top 20 worst cities for Spring allergies in the US on The Weather Channel’s website. We live within 20 minutes of city #20 Harrisburg, PA. We’ve lived within an hour of Harrisburg since Zach was 3. He’s now almost 8. Our kids probably would have gotten allergies based solely on genetics, but I’d be willing to bet geographic location sped up the process.

I think that just about anywhere in the Midwest is bad for allergies. Fortunately mine are too bad.

Just poppin in to say hi and catch up on reading the posts. I must say that Aaron has his color co-ordination down just perfectly. Funny photo.

    Have a good day.

I believe that geographical locations could make a difference in severity of allergies. That’s too bad. Allergies are really a pain.
