The Health Care Debate

[ 3 ] December 22, 2009 | Amanda

I’m all for health care reform, but this current bill has gotten ridiculous. Has anyone read it all? Even Senators when asked as they were entering the Capitol Building for their 1am vote, most said “No.” Then, to get the votes they needed, evidently the Democrats gave 100′s of millions of dollars in provisions to just a few states. When asked about this, the Senate majority leader said, “This is how legislation works….” Really? Our founding fathers meant for political parties to buy the votes they need to get bills passed by appealing to the special interests of just a few legislators? Bills that will affect the entire country, but have these nice incentives for only a few? How exactly is this anything other than just more of the same corruption?

I haven't read it, and probably won't until it's all said and done because I'm angry enough.

I always have problems with legislation that is re-worked (rather than re-written) to appease the opposers.

You can't make everyone happy, no sense in trying. Something gets knocked down, you go back to the drawing board, you don't get out the white out

white out is not a euphemism or pun, btw.

I cannot believe the crap they are trying to pass. I have tried to read some of it, but the confusing way they write it and then the changes they make just gets me all mixed up. And I think I am a fairly intelligent woman. I just know that with the officials trying to get re-elected instead of trying to help the country, nothing will get that will actually reform healthcare to the benefit of Americans.
