Too Shy For Pictures
I’ve seen so many people who are participating in Project 365 this year. I’m trying it myself. Like I told my husband yesterday, I’m hoping to capture more of our little moments and then make a book by the end of the year. There are several digiscrap designers making kits and templates and other accoutrement to make the book process easier. As well as there are scrap sites hosting forums to help you along if you’re a scrapper. I’m not sure where people just in it for the photography would fall in this one.
I have a question though. How do you get over being shy about taking out your camera? For example, yesterday we took the GSA van back to where my husband works. We then drove the other 30 minutes to the nearest IHOP for their all you can eat pancake special (which by the way is a good deal even if you only eat your original plate because it comes with eggs, meat, and taters too). I wanted to get pictures of us at IHOP because we enjoy going out to breakfast as a family, it’s the IHOP we used to frequent almost every weekend when our oldest was a baby and toddler and it was only 6 miles across town from our house, and how often do we go to IHOP? I took my camera with me, took it in the restaurant, but never took any pictures. Sadly, we were the only family that seemed to be laughing and having fun in the whole section where we were sitting.
Then we went to the Ride Makerz store. I won a gift card online before Christmas, and the cars are COOL. It’s like Build A Bear only you build a car or truck. The online store doesn’t even do it justice. Walking into the actual store was so freakin cool I wanted to build a car, but our 2yo was about to have a meltdown. I had every intention of taking pictures to scrap with pictures of the boys’ cars they got, but I never took any. There were people in there and I was shy again. We also learned we can’t take our toddler in there unless we intend to buy him a car. He threw a tantrum in the parking lot, and in the car as we pulled away, giving one last really good shriek as we passed the store – stink pot.
*As an aside, I totally recommend these as gifts for the kids in your life who like cars and trucks. They’re worth the money and it’s really cool and easy to build your own car. My boys haven’t destroyed theirs yet, so they’re durable too. I didn’t link you up as a blog ad either. I just really like these cars.
On the way home, instead of taking the interstate, we took another main road. We had gone up to the north end of town to make sure our old pizza place was still there in case we got a craving and to see if the German market just happened to be open on Sunday. No bratwurst for us. I should’ve had my husband pull over so I could get a picture of the pizza place. We used to eat there almost every Friday night for at least 3 years. There were no cars in the lot, and I could’ve gotten some good shots, but we just drove by. Then as we were traveling up the road, we came across a sign that said “Hagerstown Custom Floors of Chambersburg.” It struck us as funny, but again, too shy to stop and take a pic.
What can I do to get over this shyness?
