Why Did I Have Kids?
This morning started off badly. First of all, Zach was up when I got up. That would have been fine had he stayed in his room. But no. He came out and was talking to me. And not only talking but asking me about stupid and irrelevant stuff he pulled out of his ass before 7am on a Saturday. Hence why I had to remind him of the no talking to Mommy rule in the morning unless you need something like food or a drink. So that kinda put me in a foul mood because he wouldn’t let up and then Aaron was only about 30 minutes behind Zach and I never got quiet time. I NEED morning quiet time.
Then I dragged the boys to Babies R Us to get a gate for our stairs and to browse for a baby shower gift. Zach was terrible in there. Then he got mad at me when I told him he was acting like he was 3. I told him “The truth hurts sometimes, Buddy.” Then we went to Olive Garden for lunch because it’s what I wanted. I had big plans to stop at the bigass Wegman’s on the way home, but it was late at that point and I had a toddler who needed a nap.
Once home I thought I’d accomplish stuff. Nope. Aaron napped, Zach played outside, and I watched the rest of season 4 of Weeds on On Demand LOL. The kitchen is almost done though. I think I’m going to use the 2 storage cabinets from our bathroom in the previous house in the kitchen for snacks and stuff. I seriously need a pantry. The cupboard above the dishwasher just doesn’t cut it for dry goods.
Oh, and the kitchen timer is still beeping in a box LOL. I haven’t gotten to that one yet, but it’s getting narrowed down. I’ll laugh if ti’s the same one DH’s cell phone got packed in. That’s a funny story. His cell was about dead, he had left his house charger here, and so he left his cell on the kitchen counter so he’d know where it was in all the commotion. He and Zach went to Goodwill and came back and it was packed in a box LOL. We’ll find ti eventually. Along with my flip flops and Zach’s crocs. I’m about ready to just buy the kid a new pair of crocs (the fake kind). I want my flip flops though. They’re Crocs brand for my stupid feet and not cheap. We’ll find them eventually.
And speaking of flip flops, the weather can make up its mind any day now. It’s the midle of October. O-C-T-O-B-E-R. It’s been near 80 degrees for the last few days and it’s supposed to continue into early next week now. WTF? Does anyone else from the Mid_Atlantic region remember when we used to have to wear our winter coats over Halloween costumes because it was snowing?
OK, off to put kids to bed, and then myself. My body is just exhausted. One nice thing about living on post is that I actually sleep when DH is gone because I feel safer. Being at the War College, there’s what I call a “higher strung” housing clientele. I almost feel like we’re living in Stepford.

Amanda, thank you for your blog. Sometimes I just don’t know what to post and I come here and read it. It’s exactly how I’m feeling. And life is just sometimes that crazy!! Good luck with the timer and the phone. . . and your crocs.
Hope you find your crocs and kitchen timer very soon!
Ohhh – It’s a hard time to move… I hope I never need to do it again.
But when everything is packed out and find their places, it’s ok.
Hope you get happy days in your ny place and get to know many nice people…

I’m wearing my Crocs flip flops too! WOrth every penny of the $40 they cost. I don’t even try to wear anything else any more.
I am from Erie! Went to Asbury Elementary, Westlake and JS, and graduated from McDowell in 94. My mom and my brother still live there, but I’m in Philadelphia now.
I remember the terrible Asbury Woods trips too! And Browns Farm after we got too old for AW!
I love your blog! You’re on my Reader, I look forward to hearing more about your move and the kids. And you too!
