Withdrawal

[ 1 ] July 1, 2008 | Amanda

So I got up Sunday morning, came downstairs, and plugged the computer back in. I had unplugged everything the night before because we had some nasty storms. I’ve lost 2 modems in a month and a motherboard before, so I don’t take chances now. I went to turn the CPU on and nothing. I was crushed. It’s not even like having no Internet. I couldn’t even scrap if I wanted to. To make matters worse, my Sunday newspaper was late and I couldn’t even sit and read the paper before everyone got up. So, I got dressed and rousted everyone to go out to breakfast.

We went to breakfast, then to Lowe’s to look at microwaves. I thought ours was starting to go. I couldn’t use the button where I could punch in my own cook time, but had to use the presets. I figured we’d look then, and wait until they had 10% off for 4Th of July weekend for military people to actually buy. Glad I waited. The microwave worked fine that afternoon.

As we were leaving, Zach said that someone getting out of their car across from us was a substitute teacher at his school. Then he says “It must be hard being the only grown up with 2 daughters.” I said “What about with 2 sons?” Zach says “That’s even worse.” DH and I laughed so hard. I could barely breathe. We then continued on to the mall where we picked up our reserved copy of Guitar Hero: Aerosmith for the Wii. I got the bundle so we can both play now. I also like that I can set my character to play on the easy level and as a lefty.

Yesterday was allergy shot day and grocery trip #1. We hit the local store for their deals. Lots of things we eat are on sale this week with the 4Th. I’m thinking I’ll hit the other stores later this week since DH has Thursday and Friday off. I could even go by myself. What a novel idea.

It’s just so good to be back to my routine. I miss reading the world news and checking the weather every morning if nothing else. We have satellite TV, so if I miss the morning weather, that’s it. And if it looks like a storm is brewing, I can check the radar online. My only complaint about satellite TV is that The Weather Channel isn’t set to your local area so you don’t get the local report and radar with the Local on the 8′s.
